Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el-Saeed met with high-ranking ministry officials to discuss the investment plan for fiscal year (FY) 2024-2025 and follow up the FY 2023-2024 plan.

At the beginning of the meeting, the minister was given an account of what was implemented for the current fiscal year, progress to date in listed projects, the most important sectors and support agencies whose work the ministry is monitoring, as well as the latest developments in the first phase of the presidential rural development initiative Decent Life.

The minister was also briefed on proposals for the investment plan for the next fiscal year.

Early preparation of the plan for the next fiscal year comes from the ministry’s appreciation of the magnitude of the challenges facing the country at all levels, and use all available opportunities and direct investments for the highest returns, the minister said.

Investing in people and directing public investments to the health and education sectors are top priorities while inviting private sector participation in health and education, the minister added.

The objectives of the plan must be linked to the updated version of Egypt’s Vision 2030, as well as the international goals, learning from reports on the localisation of sustainable development goals in the governorates, making sure to achieve the plan’s greening target, and increasing the percentage of green projects to 50 per cent, el-Saeed said, adding that the largest possible amount of resources must be mobilised to finance Decent Life projects

The Minister of Planning also directed the start of holding expanded meetings with the private sector, members of parliament, experts, and civil society figures to activate participatory planning and so that the next plan expresses the ambitions of all sectors.
