TUNIS – Egyptian Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem and her Tunisian counterpart Hayat Guermazi visited Monday Dar Nejma Ezzahra Palace in Sidi Bou Said village.

A statement issued by the Tunisian Ministry of Culture said the tour included a detailed explanation of the exquisite architectural structure of the the historic site, cultural programmes organised by the 20th-century palace, along with future-planned cultural and artistic activities.

Egypt’s Ambassador to Tunisia Ambassdor Ihab Fahmi accompanied the Egyptian minister during the visit.

Abdel Dayem, who is on a current visit to Tunisia said the announcement of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Tunisian President Kais Saied earlier of the joint Egyptian-Tunisian Culture Year 2021-2022 came to crown long historical ties binding the two countries, with a view to further promoting bilateral co-operation.

The minister lauded the Egyptian-Tunisian cultural activities that shed light on salient aspects of art forms in both countries, especially that culture and art are meeting points for societies.

Ennejma Ezzahra (Star of Venus), sometimes spelled Nejma Ezzohara, also the Palace of the French painter and musicologist Baron d’Erlanger is a historical palace at Sidi Bou Said, in northern Tunisia, built from 1912 – 1922 by Baron Rodolphe d’Erlanger (1872–1932) as his home in Tunisia.

Rodolphe d’Erlanger was renowned for his multi-volume work tracing the history of Arab music.
