Cairo- Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Russian President Vladimir Putin reviewed on Monday regional and international issues as well as the progress of work on the Dabaa nuclear power plant.

This came during a phone call the President received Monday from the Russian leader, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.

The two leaders discussed means of boosting co-operation between Cairo and Moscow in various domains, notably economic, industrial and energy ones.

Sisi-Putin conversation also included a review of the developments in the implementation of the Dabaa nuclear power plant project, as well as the establishment of the Russian industrial zone in East Port Said, Radi said.

For his part, the Russian president affirmed his country’s keenness to push fruitful and close co-operation between the two friendly countries to new highs.

Putin stressed the importance of coordination and regular consultation with President Sisi on various regional and international issues.

President Sisi appreciated the extended partnership relations with Russia, which culminated in the conclusion of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between the two countries.

This resulted in opening new horizons for bilateral cooperation between Cairo and Moscow in many fields in addition to implementing joint development projects.

The phone talks also covered the latest developments of the most important regional and international issues in the region.

The Russian president expressed his appreciation for strenuous efforts exerted by President Sisi in resolving these crises, which has consolidated Egypt’s role as a central heavyweight for maintaining peace and security in the Middle East.

Putin underscored Russia’s eagerness to continue intensive deliberations with Egypt in all vocal issues of mutual interest.
