Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Monday South Korea’s National Assembly Speaker Kim Jin-Pyo, in presence of Speaker of the House of Parliament Hanafi Gebali and the South Korean ambassador in Cairo.
In statements, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmi said that during the meeting, the two sides asserted the close ties binding the two friendly countries.
They also lauded the development of Egyptian-South Korean relations during the recent period, particularly at the parliamentary level, said the spokesman.
The two sides expressed their keenness on promoting economic cooperation between the two countries, he added.
For his part, the South Korean parliament speaker underlined President Sisi’s historic visit to Seoul in 2016. It was a turning point in the course of relations between the two countries, as Korean investments flowed into Egypt, benefiting from the rapid and tangible development in Egypt in the recent years, he added.
They also discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in several sectors, particularly at the parliamentary level, as well as means to maximize Egypt’s benefit from the extensive Korean expertise in technological industries, localizing various components of the transportation industry and green and renewable energy and increasing the Egyptian component in the production process.
They also exchanged views on the most prominent developments related to regional and international issues, topped by the current crisis at the Palestinian-Israeli level. They agreed on the importance of working to prevent further escalation that could lead to serious repercussions on the humanitarian situation and the security and stability of the whole region.
President Sisi stressed the necessity of reaching a just and comprehensive settlement to the Palestinian issue, based on the two-state solution, a matter that will help achieve security and stability for all the peoples of the region.
