The National Program for Social, Human and Local Development (Mashrouk) has managed to carry out 207,500 projects with total loans estimated at EGP 27.1 billion since the its launch and till September 2023, said Egypt’s Minister of Local Development Hisham Amna on Thursday.
He added that Mashrouk program has contributed to creating 1.6 million job opportunities nationwide.
The program represents a gateway for youth entrepreneurship through providing soft loans for the implementation of development projects aiming at supporting the national economy, the minister said.
The Upper Egypt governorate of Minya accounted for the largest share of projects carried out since the launch of the program and till September 2023 with almost 23,100 projects worth over EGP 2.9 billion to secured more than 160,000 job opportunities, according to a report received by minister Amna.
Sohag governorate followed Minya by 22,000 projects with loans recording some EGP 3 billion, then Behaira governorate where 18,900 projects have been implemented and Dakahliya with 16,800 projects, the report read.
