Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Tuesday chaired a ministerial committee on unity of China to review files of bilateral co-operation between Egypt and China as the volume of trade exchange hit dlrs 18 billion in 2022, with investments worth dlrs 8 billion through businesses of 2,066 companies involving Chinese contribution.
Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad said the meeting covered mutual projects and cooperation fields through China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Co-operation Zone, located at Northwest Special Economic Zone of Gulf of Suez, adjacent to Suez Canal, where 141 companies are operating in the industrial, services, trade and administrative sectors with capitals worth more than dlrs 2.5 billion, providing job opportunities exceeding 10,000 by the end of 2023.
The meeting reviewed the outcome of several meetings of the executive secretariat of China Unity ministerial committee, proposed fields for future cooperation, in addition to prepared deals that would be signed in the coming phase in the fields of promoting industrial and logistic zones, production of green hydrogen, heavy industries, petrochemicals, tourism, research and development, among others.
Minister of Electricity, Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Oil Tarek El Molla, Minister of Finance Mohammed Maeet, along with a galaxy of cabinet ministers and economic authorities’ officials attended the meeting.
