Egypt has condemned the renewed violations of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli extremists under the protection of Israeli forces.
A statement released by the Foreign Ministry on Sunday affirmed Egypt’s utter rejection of such violations, recalling that Egypt has always warned against harming Al-Aqsa Mosque which enjoys lofty status for Muslims around the world.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said that the mosque is a place of worship for Muslims and that, with such sanctity, the responsibility lies with the Israeli authorities to provide protection for worshipers in order to maintain security and stability, along with refraining from any measure that may lead to tension or escalation.
The statement also called for pushing forward efforts aimed at reviving the negotiating process on the basis of legal frames of reference and the known international resolutions and legitimacy as part of the two-state solution.
