Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said Sunday that he is confident India’s presidency of the G20 would contribute to containing negative repercussions of international challenges for the global economy.
Egypt is willing to fully cooperate with India as president of the G20 to push forward constructive talks aiming to better deal with energy crises, climate change and food shortage.
Sisi was speaking during a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently on a visit to Egypt.
The two leaders held talks during which they stressed “historical” relations between their countries, said presidential spokesman Ahmed Fahmy.
The meeting also took up means of boosting bilateral cooperation in the fields of communications, IT, pharmaceutical industries, higher education, energy, tourism and culture, Fahmy said.
They also talked about maximizing the volume of trade exchange and enhancing Indian investments in Egypt in the coming stage, he added.
Sisi and Modi also discussed the latest regional and international developments of mutual concern, the presidential spokesman further said.
Modi invited Sisi to attend the upcoming G20 summit in New Delhi, Fahmy said, adding that both leaders signed a declaration to elevate relations to the level of a strategic partnership.
Sisi then bestowed the Order of the Nile on Prime Minister Modi, according to the spokesman.
