LUSAKA – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi arrived Thursday at the venue of the 22nd Summit of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) in the Zambia capital Lusaka.
The president will deliver a speech at the opening of the summit on the efforts exerted by Egypt during its presidency of the COMESA over the past two years and means of realizing integration among COMESA member states.
Egypt will hand over the COMESA presidency to Zambia.
The summit, in which 21 African leaders will take part, focuses on means of promoting development and economic and trade integration among COMESA members.
COMESA groups 21 countries; namely Egypt, Burundi, Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Eritrea, Kenya, Ethiopia, Eswatini, Malawi, Madagascar, Libya, Seychelles, Rwanda, Mauritius, Tunisia, Sudan, Somalia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Uganda.
