Egypt’s Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Hani Sweilam stressed that the sixth edition of the Cairo Water Week (CWW) aims at merging water issues into climate action, tackling the impact of climate change on the water sector, and promoting the use of modern technology to face climate change.

He made the remarks during a meeting with CWW Director Walid Hakiki and a number of senior officials to review preparations for the event which will take place from 29th October to 2nd November 2023 in Cairo.

This year’s event – under the theme of “Action on Water Adaptation for Sustainability” – will discuss and emphasize the adaptation actions in the water sector and ensure its vitality to achieving sustainability for the first time in this series.

Furthermore, as part of the event, several related sub-themes and sub-topics will be discussed in plenary and technical sessions organized by reputed international and regional organizations.

In addition to developing solutions, practical tools, policies, and concrete measures to support future generations’ safety and well-being, CWW has a primary objective of advancing science and knowledge to better understand the current and future water challenges.
