Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said that the government greatly appreciates the partnership and co-operation with the World Bank.
The World Bank has played a big role in financing many development projects in Egypt over the past decades, Madbouli said during a meeting with World Bank Vice-President for Middle East and North Africa Ferid Belhaj Sunday night.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of a conference to launch a new country strategy between Egypt and the World Bank Group.
The premier thanked Belhaj for efforts exerted to finalise the 2023-2027 country strategy.
Madbouli said his government is committed to further involving the private sector in economic activities, said Cabinet spokesman Nader Saad.
A supreme committee for investments has been established under the chairmanship of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi with the aim to achieve a quantum leap in the business climate in Egypt, Madbouli told Belhaj.
The World Bank official, for his part, said the new strategy programme sends a message of support for Egypt in such difficult global economic circumstances.
The meeting also took up the latest developments in Sudan and efforts exerted by Egypt to facilitate the entry of Sudanese people through the border crossings.
