CAIRO– The Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit reiterated on Thursday the importance of immediately halting the clashes in Sudan.
This came during his meeting with Jaafar Al-Mirghani, Vice President of the Democratic Unionist Party and head of the Democratic Bloc of the Forces for Freedom and Change, AL Spokesman Gamal Roshdy.
During the meeting, Aboul Gheit reviewed Mirghani and the bloc’s vision concerning the current situation in Sudan in which Mirghani stressed the bloc’s full support of the Sudanese Armed Forces, led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, as the legitimate institution ruling the country.
He also hailed the Arab League’s role in this crisis, aiming at restoring stability in Sudan.
Mirghani also handed a letter from the bloc to the AL, urging to immediately work on stopping fighting and to start dialogue among the Sudanese factions.
