WASHINGTON – US Special Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking is travelling to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman this week to continue discussions with partners regarding the peace process in Yemen and an immediate end to the reckless Houthi attacks in the Red Sea and surrounding waterways.
The Houthis’ continued attacks threaten progress toward achieving a durable resolution to the conflict in Yemen and obstruct the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Yemenis and people in need across the region, according to a statement issued by the official website of the US Department of State .
The United States strongly supports a durable, inclusive peace in Yemen and urges a swift return to UN-led peace efforts, read the statement.
Special Envoy Lenderking plans to meet with counterparts to discuss steps to de-escalate the current situation and support the Yemeni people.
