U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Thursday that the U.S. Armed Forces have lifted the maritime blockade on Iran and ceased all operations restricting shipping traffic at Iranian ports.

The move follows direct orders from President Donald Trump linked to the newly struck diplomatic agreement with Tehran.

“Today, U.S. forces lifted the blockade on all maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports and coastal areas, in accordance with the President’s direction,” CENTCOM said in a statement. “American forces are not impeding the transit of vessels to or from Iranian ports on the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman. All U.S. military blockade enforcement efforts have ceased.”

While the restrictive measures have been dismantled, American warships will maintain a presence in the region. CENTCOM emphasized that U.S. naval assets will remain stationed in surrounding waters to monitor compliance, oversee implementation, and ensure all provisions of the agreement are strictly adhered to.
