KHARTOUM – Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah al Burhan said he will not run for presidency even if he was asked to do so, Al Arabiya news channel quoted him as saying.
Burhan, who is also army chief, added his mission will end with the termination of the transitional period, saying there are efforts to form a high electoral commission in Sudan.
Burhan said, according to MENA, the deal with Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok was a real beginning of a transitional period in the country, noting that many of the tasks of the transitional period have not been accomplished by political forces.
He asserted that the entire Sudanese people support “our decisions”, and some elites reject them.”
