Poll: Israelis believe Iran won war 12 - Egyptian Gazette

A new poll released Sunday shows that most Israelis believe Iran emerged in a stronger position after the Middle East war and its subsequent agreement with the United States.

The survey, conducted by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Agam Institute between June 17 and 20 and involving 3,644 participants, reveals deep public concern in the aftermath of the US-Iran deal.

According to the findings, 92.1 percent of respondents said Iran had either won or benefited more from the conflict, and 82.9 percent felt Israel’s long-term security had been undermined.

Even among supporters of the right-wing bloc, which forms Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s core voter base, 93.1 percent said Iran had come out ahead.

The US-Iran agreement was broadly unpopular, with 63.2 percent expressing opposition and only 12.1 percent voicing support.

Overall, the results highlight a significant erosion of public trust in Israel’s leadership.

Nearly 72.5 percent of those surveyed said they did not believe Netanyahu’s statements about the successes of the military campaign, and 56.4 percent graded his handling of the campaign as either “failed” or “poor.”

The poll also underscored Netanyahu’s political setbacks, showing support for his premiership dropping sharply from 40.5 percent in early March to 29.4 percent in June.

Despite these views, the public continues to back military action against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Almost half of respondents, 48.2 percent, supported launching a renewed large-scale operation against Hezbollah—even if it risked friction with Washington—while just 21 percent were opposed.
