Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian Shahin on Sunday praised Egypt’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and its efforts to halt the Gaza conflict, secure a ceasefire, ease the blockade and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid.
She made the remarks during a farewell meeting with Egypt’s ambassador to Palestine, Ehab Suleiman, at the end of his diplomatic tenure, the official Wafa news agency reported.
Shahin commended Egypt’s role under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in supporting Palestinian national rights and pursuing political and diplomatic efforts on behalf of the Palestinian people.
She also praised Suleiman’s work in advancing the Palestinian cause in regional and international forums and in strengthening coordination between the two countries.
Suleiman said Egypt’s position on the Palestinian issue remained “firm and unwavering,” adding that Cairo would continue its political and diplomatic efforts to support Palestinian rights, particularly the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He thanked the Palestinian Foreign Ministry for its co-operation, saying the close ties between Egypt and Palestine would remain a model of Arab coordination and solidarity, especially in support of the Palestinian cause.
