Chargé d’Affaires of the Palestinian Embassy in Cairo Naji Al-Naji asserted that the current visit to Egypt by a Palestinian delegation headed by Palestinian Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh comes within the framework of ongoing consultations and coordination between the Palestinian and Egyptian leaderships.
He said the visit reflects the depth of the fraternal and historic relations between the two countries and their unified stance toward various developments and issues related to the Palestinian cause, MENA reported.
In a press statement on Tuesday, Naji said meetings held by the Palestinian delegation, which included Head of Palestinian General Intelligence Service Majed Faraj and President of the Palestinian National Council Rawhi Fattouh, with Egyptian Intelligence Chief Hassan Rashad and Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty addressed ways to continue political and diplomatic efforts, support the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people and intensify efforts to end their suffering.
The meetings also discussed opening a political horizon leading to an end to the occupation and the establishment of an independent State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital, as well as strengthening Palestinian unity and coordinating efforts with the Egyptian side.
Naji highly praised Egypt’s historic and pivotal role in supporting the Palestinian cause, stressing that Egypt has consistently stood alongside the Palestinian people and their leadership at various stages.
He said Egypt’s ongoing efforts constitute a key pillar in protecting Palestinian national rights, ending the suffering of the Palestinian people, and supporting their efforts to achieve freedom and independence and establish their own state.
Naji expressed Palestine’s appreciation, on both the leadership and popular levels, for President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s steadfast and supportive positions toward the Palestinian cause, as well as for Egypt’s continued political and humanitarian efforts.
He explained that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas attaches special and exceptional importance to Egypt and its leadership, viewing it as a historic supporter, brother and essential partner in defending Palestinian national rights.
Naji stressed that communication and consultation between the Palestinian and Egyptian leaderships will continue, based on their shared commitment to coordinating positions, strengthening efforts to halt the aggression against the Palestinian people, uphold their legitimate national rights and support a political process leading to an end to the occupation and the establishment of an independent State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital.
