The Embassy of Pakistan in Cairo hosted a vibrant reception to commemorate the 85th National Day of Pakistan. The event, held at a prominent hotel in the Egyptian capital, was graced by the presence of H.E. Engineer Mohamed Shimi, the Egyptian Minister of Public Business Sector, who attended as the chief guest.

Ambassador Aamir Shouket of Pakistan warmly welcomed the attendees and paid heartfelt tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan’s founding fathers, acknowledging their visionary leadership under Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in realizing the dream of an independent nation.

In his address, Ambassador Shouket highlighted Pakistan’s strategic importance as the fifth most populous country, positioned as a crucial connectivity hub and a gateway for energy, economic, and maritime activities linking South Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East, and China. He emphasized Pakistan’s potential as an ideal destination for trade and investment, citing its significant youth population, cost-effective workforce, and abundant natural resources.

The Ambassador further elaborated on the current government’s efforts towards macroeconomic stability, improving the ease of doing business, and reducing inflation. He specifically highlighted the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in streamlining investment for foreign entities across key sectors. Additionally, he noted that Pakistan’s liberalized visa regime is successfully attracting a growing number of tourists.

Expressing satisfaction with the strong and enduring fraternal ties between Pakistan and Egypt, Ambassador Shouket acknowledged the recent high-level exchanges between the leadership of both nations. He conveyed optimism for the continued strengthening of bilateral cooperation across various fields, including political, economic, defense, cultural, health, and educational sectors.
