GENEVA – World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said more than 550 cases of monkeypox have been confirmed in 30 countries, Tass news agency reported.

“To date, the WHO has received reports of more than 550 confirmed cases of monkeypox from 30 countries that are not endemic for the monkeypox virus,” he said.

Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, said the World Health Organisation had doubts at this stage that the spread of monkeypox in humans could be completely contained.
