AMMAN – The Israeli occupation’s practices have negatively affected the Palestinian labor market, said Arab League’s Assistant Secretary General Haifa Abu Ghazaleh.
Abu Ghazaleh’s remarks came while delivering a speech, on behalf of AL Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit, Thursday at the Jordan-hosted Partners Meeting to Support the Implementation of the Palestinian National Employment Strategy (NES).
During the meeting, which was attended by Egyptian Manpower Minister Hassan Shehata, Abu Ghazaleh said that the Israeli occupation’s violations against the Palestinians have contributed to increasing unemployment rate in the Palestinian labor market.
The pan-Arab body is keen on supporting the Palestinian laborers in the various spheres, she added.
Abu Ghazaleh, meanwhile, extended thanks and gratitude to Jordan for hosting such important meeting.
The AL will work with all relevant partners in order to implement the Palestinian strategy, she affirmed.
The meeting seeks to chart a path to job opportunities and gainful employment for Palestinian women and men, especially youth, according to the website of the Palestinian Ministry of Labor.
