Israel’s defence minister has ordered the military to respond “immediately and forcefully” to kites launched from the Gaza Strip, saying they should be treated as drones.
“We view every launch as an act of war in every sense,” Defence Minister Israel Katz said Sunday, pledging the “absolute defence” of Israeli communities near the Gaza border.
“A balloon is treated like a kite, and a kite is treated like a drone, with or without explosives,” Katz said.
The order followed the discovery of several kites in Israeli border communities, including three found near Kibbutz Nahal Oz on Sunday and another near Kibbutz Kfar Aza over the weekend, The Jerusalem Post reported.
