BAGHDAD – Iraqi President Barham Salih hailed on Monday efforts exerted by Pope Francis of the Vatican to achieve security and stability in Iraq and strengthen the culture of love and tolerance among peoples.
President Salih’s statements came as he received at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad the Ambassador of the Vatican State to Iraq, Mitja Laskovar, said a statement issued by the Iraqi presidency and carried by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
“During the meeting, they discussed the bilateral relations and ways to develop them and broadening the horizons of joint co-operation in all fields, and joint coordination to promote a culture of coexistence, dialogue and convergence for peace,” the statement added.
