DUBAI — Iran accuses US of violating 3 clauses of framework for a deal, says ceasefire, negotiations with US are ‘unreasonable.’

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the ceasefire agreement included ending the war in Lebanon, a claim disputed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump, who said the truce did not apply to Lebanon.

“The Iran–US Ceasefire terms are clear and explicit: the US must choose — ceasefire or continued war via Israel. It cannot have both,” Araghchi wrote on X.

“The world sees the massacres in Lebanon. The ball is in the US court, and the world is watching whether it will act on its commitments,” he added.

Araghchi’s post comes less than 24 hours after Iran, the US, and Israel agreed to a two-week ceasefire in an 11th-hour deal that headed off Trump’s threat to unleash a bombing campaign to destroy Iranian civilisation.

“This is a victory for the United States that President Trump and our incredible military made happen,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt wrote on X, as well as said during a news briefing earlier on Wednesday.

Leavitt also commented on reports that the Strait of Hormuz was closed.

“This is a case of what they are saying publicly is different privately. We have seen an uptick of traffic in the Strait today and I will reiterate the president’s expectation and demand that the Strait of Hormuz is reopened immediately, quickly, and safely,” she said. “That is his expectation that has been relayed to him privately and that that is what’s taking place and these reports publicity are false.”
