Hamas leader and chief negotiator Khalil Al-Hayya said that the sponsorship of the Gaza agreement by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and US President Donald Trump provides strong assurances of the deal’s resilience.

In an exclusive interview with Al Qahera News Channel, Al-Hayya stated: “The Gaza Agreement will hold because we want it to endure. Our will to uphold it is strong. The international will demonstrated in Egypt under the auspices of President El Sisi and President Trump, along with the promises and guarantees we received, all reassure us that the agreement will hold.”

“This international will assures us that the war is over and will not return,” Al-Hayya added.

He emphasised that the Palestinian people, particularly the residents of Gaza, had endured relentless bombardment and unimaginable destruction, yet they remained steadfast until the war came to an end.

Following the signing of the Gaza Agreement in Sharm el-Sheikh—which stipulates a complete cessation of hostilities—Al-Hayya affirmed that Hamas and other Palestinian factions are firmly committed to implementing it to the fullest extent.

Al-Hayya praised the efforts of regional mediators, particularly Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, as well as the broader international engagement led by Egypt.

He highlighted that the international conference held in Egypt, attended by President Trump, reflected a unified global will declaring, “The war in Gaza has ended.”

Addressing the issue of returning the remains of the deceased captives, Al-Hayya said that Hamas is committed to implementing that part of the agreement.

“We are serious about recovering all the bodies of those held, as stipulated in the deal. We have no interest in retaining anyone’s remains. They must be returned to their families, just as we wish for the remains of our martyrs to be returned and buried with dignity,” he said.

He noted, however, that the process poses major logistical challenges.

“Recovering the bodies is extremely difficult due to the changing terrain and the fact that some are buried deep underground. This will take time and significant equipment—but with determination and will, we will bring this file to a close,” he said.

Regarding humanitarian aid, Al-Hayya stated that during the past week, coordination with mediators had ensured the entry of the agreed-upon quantities of aid through the border crossings.

“We hope these quantities will increase to meet the urgent needs, especially in shelter, medical supplies, and relief efforts as winter approaches,” he said, calling on mediators to exert further efforts to expand the flow of humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
