CAIRO — The ministries of petroleum and electricity signed a memorandum of understanding with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for assessing low-carbon hydrogen economies in Egypt.
In a statement on Sunday, Petroleum Minister Tareq Mulla said the memorandum represents a vital step for benefiting from he hydrogen use in Egypt.
He added that this requires intensive cooperation, especially with key international institutions.
Egypt is deeply interested in turning to clean energy and green economy, he said, noting expanding the use of natural gas marked the starting point for low carbon emissions.
This came during a ceremony marking the launch of the regional strategy of development cooperation between Egypt and EBRD. (MENA)
