CAIRO – Chief Executive Officer of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) Nardos Bekele-Thomas has praised President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s efforts to achieve stability and support development in Africa.
In statements to MENA on Friday during her visit to Cairo, Bekele-Thomas said President Sisi is playing a major role at the continental level especially with regard to peace, dispute settlement as well as reconstruction and development in light of his chairmanship of the NEPAD Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee that is empowered to implement Africa’s development agenda 2063.
The official added that Africa has ambitious visions and plans by 2063 as regards achieving prosperity, peace and stability throughout the continent as well as enhancing its economic strength, pointing out in this regard to the AUDA-NEPAD’s vital role in implementing Africa’s Agenda 2063.
She also highlighted the agency’s role in the programs of peace-building, reconstruction and development that are aimed at confronting the challenges facing Africa.
Bekele-Thomas said she is taking part in the African Union’s workshop to review its post-conflict reconstruction and development policy. The three-day workshop is hosted by Egypt.
