ALGIERS – Algerian President Majeed Tebboune affirmed his belief that Palestine will obtain permanent membership in the United Nations (UN) pointing out that the UN Security Council’s resolution obliging the “Zionist occupation” to stop “crimes of genocide” in Palestine is “a victory for truth against falsehood before it is a victory for Algeria and Africa,” Algeria Press Service reported.

During a meeting Sunday with representatives of the local Algerian media, the Algerian president touched on many urgent issues on the local and international arenas.

Regarding the recent UN Security Council resolution requiring a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the Algerian President confirmed that obliging the Zionist occupation to stop the crimes of genocide in all of Palestine is a victory for truth against falsehood before it is a victory for Algeria or Africa.

Tebboune said “deterrent forces” must oblige the “Zionist entity” to comply with the UN Security Council resolution regarding the ceasefire in Gaza, stressing that what is happening in the Strip “exposes the double standards in dealing with international issues.”

Regarding the developments in Mali and Niger, he stressed that his country “never imposed itself” on these two countries and has dealt with them since independence on the basis of “the principle of goodwill.”

He explained that whenever a conflict broke out in Mali, Algeria would intervene to reconcile the parties.

This prompted the UN to request Algeria to coordinate for reconciliation between the Malian parties.

The Algerian president added, “If the parties in Mali or Niger reject Algeria’s performance, they are totally free to manage their countries affairs,” reiterating that Algeria has never been a colonial state or one exploiting wealth or countries, recalling that the establishment of free zones with these countries have been planned, in addition to fields of training in the army, students and others.

Tebboune expressed his hope that these countries would be able to solve their problems and overcome their phenomenon of terrorism, always expressing Algeria’s readiness to support them in all circumstances and within the framework of good neighborliness.
