The General Secretariat of the Arab League (AL), in co-operation with the Permanent Mission of the State of Palestine to the Arab League, organised an event to commemorate the victims of the crime of genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip.

The event was attended by Arab officials and featured firsthand testimonies from Palestinians who experienced the horrors of war, alongside a documentary exhibition presenting photographs, evidence, and testimonies from inside Gaza, highlighting the impact of the war and the destruction inflicted on residents and infrastructure, MENA reported.

The event opened with a speech by Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy, delivered on his behalf by Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Sector Fayez Mustafa.

The event includes four firsthand testimonies from Palestinian residents of the Gaza Strip, shedding light on the humanitarian suffering endured by the population since the outbreak of the war and the human losses, injuries and tragedies resulting from Israeli military operations.

The testimonies include an account by an Al Arabiya TV correspondent describing the conditions he experienced in Gaza, as well as the testimony of a mother of several children who was shot and still has a bullet lodged in her body. Her account illustrates some of the suffering endured by civilians, including women and children, during the war.

The event also features the testimony of a physician who was besieged for 60 days inside Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. He recounts his experience and the circumstances faced by medical personnel during the siege. Another testimony is provided by a relative of those killed in the war, who lost 32 family members.

The event aims to preserve the national and humanitarian memory of the victims, the crime, and those responsible for it; renew calls for international protection for the Palestinian people; and demand accountability for those responsible for violations. It also seeks to advance the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state in accordance with international law.
