Rescuers recovered the bodies of three miners trapped in a collapse in western Türkiye on Friday, bringing the death toll to five, local authorities said.
“The search and rescue operations following the collapse in the Soma district have ended. The bodies of the three trapped workers have been recovered,” the governor’s office said on X.
The collapse happened Thursday at a mine in Manisa province, about 100 kilometres (60 miles) northeast of İzmir. Seven workers were caught in the accident.
Rescue teams initially recovered two miners’ bodies and took two others to hospital, while three remained trapped underground, the justice minister said on X. Their bodies were recovered early Friday.
