Lebanon’s Public Health Emergency Operations Cente (PHEOC), affiliated with the Ministry of Public Health, announced on Monday that Israeli airstrikes on Beirut’s Daheih and southern Lebanon killed 31 people and wounded 149 others, according to a preliminary toll.

In a statement, the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health said the strikes resulted in 20 fatalities and 91 injuries in Beirut’s southern suburb, commonly known as Dahieh, while 11 people were killed and 57 others injured in southern Lebanon.

Dahieh and the south were targeted in a series of Israeli raids that triggered the displacement of thousands of residents and caused extensive damage to civilian infrastructure.

For her part, Lebanese Minister of Education and Higher Education Rima Karami announced the closure of all public and private schools, secondary institutions, and vocational and technical institutes on Monday as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students, teachers and administrative staff.

The ministry said it would continue to assess developments on a daily basis in coordination with the relevant authorities and take appropriate decisions in line with public safety requirements.
