Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli inspected on Sunday the 27th edition of Cairo ICT (Cairo ICT 2023), the leading technology conference and expo in Africa and the Middle East.

The four-day event is held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Madbouli listened to a presentation by one of the officials of Egypt Trust Company in the domain of digital identity and electronic signature.

The official underlined the importance of enhancing coordination and co-operation between the private and public sectors.

He referred to tireless efforts exerted by the company over the past five years in the digital transformation and financial inclusion.

The official unveiled the opening of a new branch of the company in co-operation with the government sector in Saudi Arabia.

The ministries of ICT, education, health, justice, and higher education and scientific research are taking part in this year’s edition.

This year’s edition is held under the theme: “Ignite Innovation: Merging Minds & Machines for a Better World”. It will explore the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence and its potential to reshape the world when combined with human intellect.

Madbouli listened to a presentation by by CBE deputy governor Ayman Hussein on the bank’s pavilion, saying the bank is keen on taking part in Cairo ICT 2023 to expound its efforts in the digital transformation domain.

He said a documentary will be screened during the fair featuring the efforts of the Central Bank that resulted from the strategy of the National Payments Center, the most important pillars of which are the financial technology and innovation strategy that contributed to the growth of companies operating in Egypt in this field.

He said the the number of companies increased from 32 companies in 2017 to 177 companies in 2022 and they succeeded in attracting more than $800 million in 2022.

The documentary also shed light on some of the CBE’s mechanisms, including the national payment system “Meeza” whose number of cards has reached 30 million cards out of a total of 62 million ones issued in Egypt and the famous application “InstaPay” which succeeded in attracting 6.2 million customers within a short period.

He said all these mechanisms are operating through a strong cybersecurity system supervised by the Computing Incident Response Team for the Financial Sector (EG-FinCIRT) of the Central Bank of Egypt.

Following the presentation, a documentary was aired on the bank’s potentials and visions as well as its unprecedented development in technology.
