As part of its commitment to facilitating access to the latest telecommunications and technology services in the fastest and easiest ways, Orange Egypt has officially announced the launch of the embedded electronic SIM (eSIM) service in Egypt. The service is available through “My Orange” app or at its branches across the country, following approval from the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA).

The eSIM service relies on an “Electronic” SIM embedded within smartphones, unlike the traditional SIM card that is manually inserted into the device. Depending on the phone’s capabilities, customers can activate up to 10 lines, with a maximum of two lines functioning simultaneously.

Existing customers can easily switch from a traditional SIM card to an eSIM at any time and from anywhere using the “My Orange” app, after obtaining the QR code for the service. Before proceeding, customers should ensure that their smart phones support eSIM, which can be easily verified through the app or by visiting any Orange branch to switch to eSIM

As for new customers, they are required to visit an Orange branch to subscribe and activate the new service, in accordance with the guidelines of the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA).

The “My Orange” app offers a clear and simple explanation of the service and the process of switching to it. It also enables customers to complete the necessary data verification procedures by allowing users to upload a photo of their national ID and enter their maternal grandfather’s name to ensure the accuracy of the information.

Orange’s commitment to being among the first companies to offer the embedded electronic SIM (eSIM) service in the Egyptian market aligns with its broader efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and emissions. The service is environmentally friendly, contributing to reduced plastic usage and minimizing waste caused by damaged or defective traditional SIM cards. Additionally, the eSIM is completely secure, making it both a sustainable and safe choice.

Ahmed EL Abd, Chief Consumer BU Officer at Orange Egypt stated that “The launch of the eSIM service reflects the company’s commitment to staying ahead of technological advancements, driving digital transformation in Egypt, and delivering superior experiences to our customers. He highlighted that Orange’s current customers can seamlessly switch from traditional SIM cards to eSIMs at any time and from anywhere via the My Orange app.

He also emphasized the transformative potential of eSIM technology, which paves the way for adopting more advanced solutions. eSIM offers users a more flexible and enhanced experience, providing additional benefits in device functionality and connectivity. Notably, eSIM enables users to have multiple numbers on a single device and operate two lines simultaneously, enhancing convenience and efficiency.
