Communications min. discusses co-operation opportunities with executives of NASSCOM, IIT, STPI in India

Egyptian Communications and IT Minister Amr Talaat discussed on Thursday with Director of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi Rangan Banerjee in New Delhi exchanging expertise and establishing international partnerships in preparing training programs.

IIT is a world-renowned institute specialised in software and systems development. Having more than 20 branches in different Indian cities, IIT has a local flavour of study and research in each branch that offers consultancy to each city-related industries, according to the official website of Communications and IT Ministry.

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed co-operation with Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) and the Information Technology Institute (ITI) in specialised academic training and education.

Talaat also met with Vice President and Head of Global Trade Development at the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) Shivendra Singh and officials from NASSCOM members.

NASSCOM has 3,000+ members that constitute 90 per cent of the revenue of the IT and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) sector, the largest employer within the private sector.

The two sides also discussed enhancing co-operation in training and in developing the outsourcing and offshoring industry through coordination between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and NASSCOM.

For their part, the representatives of NASSCOM members said they looked forward to cooperating with the Egyptian tech companies implementing digital transformation projects.

In a related context, the minister and his accompanying delegation visited the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) HQ in Delhi. The minister met with Director General Arvind Kumar.

STPI is a premier science and technology organisation under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

It is engaged in promoting IT/ITES Industry, innovation, R&D, start-ups, product/IP creation in emerging technologies.

The two sides agreed to enhance co-operation in fostering software development, innovation, R&D, and start-ups, as part of Egypt’s efforts to create an environment conducive to digital innovation and entrepreneurship through Creativa Innovation Hubs.
