Manchester City Football Club has announced a multi-year strategic partnership with the world’s leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles (NEVs), designating the tech giant as the club’s Official Automotive Partner. The agreement marks a significant collaboration between a global technology innovator and an iconic sports institution, focused on a shared vision for a sustainable future.

Under the new deal, the partner’s logo will feature prominently on the sleeves of the Men’s First Team training kits effective immediately. This presence will expand to the Women’s First Team training kits starting next season.

Beyond apparel, the brand will have a high-visibility presence at the Etihad Stadium, including branding on dugout seat headrests. Additionally, one of the company’s flagship vehicles will lead the Men’s First Team official bus into the stadium during Premier League and domestic cup home fixtures.

Fleet and infrastructure support

The partnership extends beyond marketing to include practical sustainable solutions.Fleetsupply: Provision of a comprehensive fleet of BYD and DENZA vehicles. Infrastructure: Installation of integrated vehicle charging solutions. Energy storage: Implementation of advanced battery energy storage at the City Football Academy, the training hub for the Men’s, Women’s, and Academy teams.

Global footprint and innovation

This move is part of the manufacturer’s broader strategy to cement its presence in global football, following its successful sponsorships of UEFA EURO 2024 and the 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

Stella Li, executive vice president of BYD, stated:

“Manchester City embodies excellence, innovation, and the courage to push boundaries—the same values that define BYD. This partnership transcends football and mobility; it reflects a shared vision to inspire individuals through advanced technologies that ignite passion and build a sustainable future.”

Ferran Soriano, CEO of City Football Group, highlighted the alignment of values:

“As a global sports organization, we are driven by a constant passion for innovation. By partnering with industry leaders, we aim to accelerate the transition to an environmentally sustainable future. We are proud to be the partner of choice for a world leader like BYD.”
