Egypt’s recent run in modern pentathlon has been built on more than medals.
From Kaunas in Lithuania to Madrid in Spain and then finally on to Guiyang in China, Egyptian athletes have been winning, breaking records and, just as importantly, giving a new generation valuable experience at world level.
The results across the three World Championships have offered plenty to celebrate. But they have also pointed to something bigger. Egypt now has talent coming through at several age groups, while its senior athletes are showing they can compete with the best in the world.
Kaunas sets pace
In Kaunas at the UIPM 2026 Pentathlon Junior & U17 World Championships, Zeina Amer and Jana Attia got the campaign off to a winning start, taking gold in the women’s under-21 relay with 1,352 points.
Momen Mohamed won silver in the individual event and Mohamed Ashraf took bronze. The two then teamed up with Mohamed Abdel-Galil to win gold in the team competition.
There was more success in the men’s under-21 events. Mohamed Hassan claimed individual bronze, while Hassan, Omar Amer and Seif Soliman won team silver.
The women added to the tally too. Ganna Al-Gendi took individual bronze and then joined Amer and Attia to win silver in the team event.
Then came the moment that really caught the eye. Hassan broke the junior world record in the obstacle event, clocking 20.825 seconds.
Madrid shows depth
The action moved to Madrid for the UIPM 2026 Pentathlon U15 & U19 World Championships, where Egypt’s under-15 athletes continued that momentum.
Eyad Osman, Ahmed Abdel Rahman and Mark Labib won gold in the men’s team event with 3,721 points. Osman then added individual bronze with 1,248 points.
The girls were also among the medals. Jana Ali Heza, Lana Ghazi and Lamar El-Sobkhy won silver in the team event with 3,400 points, while Heza finished fourth individually.
Ghazi and El-Sobkhy later added another silver in the women’s pairs relay.
Guiyang caps the run
Then came Guiyang, China, where the UIPM 2026 Senior World Championships provided another test on the world stage.
Egypt finished with four medals — three silver and one bronze —underlining that the progress at youth level is beginning to translate into results among the seniors.
The men’s team of Moataz Mohamed, Mohanad Shaaban and Mohamed El-Ashkar won silver with 4,687 points.
In the women’s events, Farida Khalil won individual silver before joining Jana Attia and Janna El-Gendy to take silver in the team competition.
And the obstacle event again produced something special. Zeina Amer broke the world record before Khalil went even faster, while El-Ashkar set a new championship record in the men’s event.
Beyond the medals
Egypt’s results across the three World Championships are impressive on their own. Together, they tell a more interesting story.
The medals and records will always matter. But perhaps the most encouraging sign is what lies behind them: a growing group of young athletes ready to build on what came before.
Kaunas provided the first glimpse, Madrid added more evidence, and Guiyang showed what is possible on the senior stage. The story is still being written, but Egypt’s next generation is already making sure it will be an interesting one.
