GENEVA — FIFA has celebrated Egypt’s historic first-ever World Cup victory after the Pharaohs secured an impressive 3-1 win over New Zealand.
Egypt claimed its maiden victory at the World Cup with the triumph over New Zealand in Group G, moving to the top of the standings with four points and edging closer to qualification for the Round of 32.
On its official X account, FIFA marked the occasion by posting photos of Egyptian players celebrating the landmark win, accompanied by the caption: “What a wonderful night for Egypt, earning its first-ever World Cup victory.”

The official account of France’s Ligue 1 also highlighted the historic achievement, sharing a photo of Egypt’s players and writing: “Egyptians first. Mohamed Abdelmonem was part of Egypt’s first-ever World Cup victory.”
The victory lifted Egypt to the top of Group G with four points, ahead of Belgium and Iran on two points each, while New Zealand remains at the bottom of the table with one point.

Egypt will face a stern test in its next group-stage match against Iran on Saturday, with a place in the Round of 32 potentially at stake.
