Egyptian national fencing team star Mohamed El-Sayed secured gold medal after triumphing over teammate Youssef Shamel in a closely contested, all-Egyptian final.
The thrilling match saw Shamel take an early 2-1 lead in the opening quarter.
However, El-Sayed quickly found his momentum in the second period, rallying to build a 6-3 advantage before maintaining his lead through the third quarter to seal a 14-11 victory.
