CAIRO — Matchday Two of the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup delivered another round of top-tier continental football, featuring sharp tactical battles, and momentum-shifting goals across Africa.

Egypt’s representatives impressed once again. Cairo giants Al-Ahly earned a valuable away point against AS FAR to stay in control of Group B in the Champions League, while Port Said’s Al-Masry maintained their perfect start with a composed away victory over Zambia’s ZESCO United in Group D of the Confederation Cup.

AS FAR 1–1 Al Ahly

At a vibrant Stade Mohammed V in Rabat, reigning African champions Al-Ahly showcased grit and experience to secure a valuable 1–1 draw against AS FAR, maintaining their grip on the top of CAF Champions League Group B.

The hosts were handed a golden chance to seize control in the 37th minute when Mohamed Hrimat stepped up to take a penalty, only to be denied by a brilliant low stop from Ahly’s goalkeeper Moustafa Shobeir—one of the match’s defining moments.

AS FAR capitalised moments later, though, as Mohcine Bouriga smashed home from close range to send the home crowd into celebration.

Al-Ahly emerged from the break with renewed energy. Their pressure paid off in the 68th minute when Tunisian midfielder Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan curled in a precise delivery for left-winger Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” to nod home the equaliser.

The draw keeps Al-Ahly level on points with Tanzanian Young Africans at the top of the group, ahead only on goal difference.

ZESCO Utd 2–3 Al-Masry

Egyptian side Al-Masry continued their impressive CAF Confederation Cup campaign, grinding out a thrilling 3–2 away victory over Zambia’s ZESCO United in Ndola to stay perfect atop Group D.

Al-Masry flew out of the blocks, taking the lead after just four minutes through defender Mohamed Hashem. Their advantage was short-lived, however, as Freddy Kouablan struck back instantly to bring ZESCO level.

Al-Masry regained their composure midway through the first half, with Algerian forward Mounder Tenime sweeping the ball home in the 24th minute to restore the lead heading into halftime.

Despite a flurry of attacking substitutions from ZESCO after the break, the visitors found the all-important third goal. Algerian centre-forward Abderrahim Deghmoum arrived in the 68th minute to steer home a composed finish, handing Al-Masry breathing space at 3–1.

The hosts staged a late charge as substitute Peter Musukuma pulled one back in the 87th minute and came close again deep into stoppage time. But Al-Masry held on through nine tense minutes of added time to secure a statement win on the road.

JS Kabylie 0–0 Young Africans

JS Kabylie and Young Africans played out a tense 0–0 draw marked by disciplined defending and a midfield battle that neither side managed to dominate.

Despite flashes of danger from both teams, clear chances were scarce as goalkeepers on each end enjoyed a relatively calm evening.

The result sees Young Africans move to second place in Group B, trailing Al-Ahly only on goal difference.

Rivers Utd 1–2 RS Berkane

A dramatic finish in RS Berkane overturned a first-half deficit with two stoppage-time goals to claim a crucial away victory.

Rivers United took the lead on 37 minutes, when defender Lamine Mamadou Camara turned the ball into his own net, giving the Nigerian side early momentum.

However, the Moroccan visitors mounted a remarkable late push as Youness El Kaabi drilled in the equaliser from the left side of the box after a set-piece scramble.

Mounir Chouiar completed the turnaround with a composed finish from the heart of the penalty area.

The sensational comeback lifts RS Berkane to the top of Group A.
