CAIRO — The Egyptian beach rowing team has arrived in Portugal for the Pharos Beach Rowing Cup, taking place in Oeiras from July 24–26, where a strong international field will provide an important test of the squad’s progress ahead of future major competitions.
Before racing gets under way, the squad will take part in an international training camp organised through the Olympic Solidarity Programme. The camp is designed to sharpen technical skills and improve physical conditioning.
With beach rowing continuing to grow rapidly since its inclusion in the Olympic programme, the Egyptian federation views international experience as essential to closing the gap with the world’s elite.
Sherif El-Komaty, who leads both the Egyptian and Arab Rowing Federations and serves as Treasurer of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, said the Pharos Cup represents a key step in the federation’s long-term vision.
He added that the training camp in Portugal would provide an ideal platform to enhance the athletes’ technical development ahead of the competition.
The delegation is headed by Mohamed Nour Salem, with Captain Hind Essam serving as technical director.
The squad features Yassin Sherif, Youssef Salama, Rimas Osama, Alia Atta, Omar Abdel Shafi, Hana El-Sobky, Habiba Atta and Ali Moustafa.
