CAIRO – The Egyptian Premier League title race intensifies as Pyramids reclaimed the top spot with a 13th-round win over Haras el-Hodood in the 2024-25 season, alongside victories for Al-Ahly, Zamalek and El-Gouna.
Pyramids lead the standings with 30 points, one point ahead of second-placed Al-Ahly (29). Zamalek sits third with 26 points, followed by Al-Masry in fourth with 23.
At the Air Defense Stadium in Cairo, Pyramids FC secured a dominant 3-0 victory over Haras el-Hodood.
Central midfielder Ahmed Atef opened the scoring in the 14th minute, followed by right winger Moustafa Fathi in the 82nd, before attacking midfielder Youssef Obama sealed the win in stoppage time.
Pyramids FC climbed to the top of the standings with 30 points, while Haras el-Hodood is now eighth with 18 points.
Al-Ahly edged Ghazl el-Mahalla 1-0 at Al-Salam Stadium, with Emam Ashour’s 56th-minute free-kick securing the win.
Al-Ahly’s goalkeeper Mohamed el-Shenawy denied Tunisian forward Mohamed Ali Ben Hamouda twice before halftime.
Ashour threatened in the 47th minute before breaking the deadlock. Al-Ahly pressed on, with Amr el-Sulaya and Ashour missing chances, while El-Shenawy preserved the lead in the 68th minute.
Al-Ahly stays in the title race with 29 points, one behind leaders Pyramids, while El-Mahalla remains 15th with 11 points, fighting relegation.
At Borg el-Arab Stadium in Alexandria, Zamalek edged Pharco FC 1-0 thanks to an own goal by Pharco right-back Ahmed Gamal in the 40th minute.
Despite Mahmoud Gehad’s 84th-minute red card, Zamalek held on, climbing to third with 26 points from 13 matches (8 wins, 2 draws, 3 losses), while Pharco FC remained eighth with 18 points (5 wins, 3 draws, 5 losses).
At the Suez Stadium, Al-Masry of Port Said held NBE Club to a 0-0 draw despite playing with 10 men from the 55th minute.
Al-Masry stayed fourth with 23 points, while NBE climbed to sixth with 19.
Despite dominating the first half, they failed to convert chances through striker Karim Bambo and Tunisian forward Fakhreddine Ben Youssef. NBE Club struggled to break down Al-Masry’s defense despite the numerical advantage.
At Khaled Beshara Stadium, El-Gouna snapped a month-and-a-half-long winless run with a 2-0 triumph over Ismaili.
Striker Marwan Mohsen opened the scoring for El-Gouna in the 47th minute, while Mahmoud Abbas sealed Ismaili’s hopes of equalizing by scoring the second goal for the hosts in the 87th minute.
This marked El-Gouna’s first league victory since December 20. They now sit 16th with 10 points, while Ismaili, suffering their fourth straight loss, remained 14th with 12 points.
At the Arab Contractors Stadium, Ceramica Cleopatra and ZED FC extended their winless runs after a 1-1 draw.
Left-winger Mustafa Ziko put ZED ahead in the 69th minute before Moroccan winger Ahmed Belhadji equalized for Ceramica from the spot in the 87th.
Ceramica remained fifth with 20 points, winless in three games, while ZED sat 11th with 16 points, having failed to win in five straight matches.
At Petrosport Stadium in Cairo, Smouha secured a 1-0 victory over Petrojet, courtesy of a fourth-minute strike from center-forward Mohamed Salem.
With the win, Smouha climbed to 17 points, moving into 10th place, while Petrojet stayed in ninth, also with 17 points.
Enppi salvaged a 1-1 draw against Al-Ittihad of Alexandria at Arab Contractors Stadium with Enppi’s Ahmed Amin’s stoppage-time penalty canceling Kareem al-Deeb’s opener in the 52nd minute.
Enppi sits 17th with 8 points from 13 matches, while Al-Ittihad occupies 13th place with 15 points.
At Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo, Modern Sport and Talae el-Geish played out a goalless draw.
Modern Sport remains 18th with 8 points from 12 matches, having secured one win, five draws, and seven losses. Talae el-Geish stands 11th with 17 points from 12 matches, comprising four wins, five draws, and four defeats.
