MACAU — Egypt’s national wushu kung fu team won four medals at the 2026 Sanda World Cup held in Macau, China, from May 11-16, securing two gold medals, one silver and one bronze in a strong showing for the Egyptian squad.

The Egyptian team won two gold medals and one silver, marking a strong achievement for the Egyptian Wushu Kung Fu Federation, chaired by Sherif MoUstafa.

Hussaini Wahdan claimed the gold medal and first place in the 85kg category after defeating Russia’s champion in the semi-finals and Romania’s champion in the final, overcoming two of the world’s top Sanda competitors.

The gold medal marks Wahdan’s third major international title, following his victories at the 2025 World Games in China and the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh.

World champion Ahmed Shalaby also secured gold in the open weight category after a commanding victory over Kazakhstan’s athlete in a high-intensity final, delivering a dominant performance.

Meanwhile, Mennatallah Mohamed Hassan earned the silver medal after a hard-fought final against China’s champion, showcasing strong determination and competitive spirit until the final moments.

The competition also saw Egyptian athlete Ali Nasser suffer a foot injury during his bout, forcing him to withdraw from the tournament and begin medical treatment.

Egypt competed in the 11th Sanda World Cup with a four-athlete delegation comprising Hussaini Wahdan, Ahmed Abdelhamid Shalaby, Ali Nasser Ahmed, and Mennatallah Mohamed Hassan.

The delegation was headed by Colonel Kilani Farouk, while the technical staff included coach Moataz Rady, coach Ashraf Khatab, and international referee Walid Abu Haisa.

Sherif Moustafa, President of the African, Arab, and Egyptian Federations and Vice President of the International Wushu Federation, oversaw the event and provided full support and motivation to the Egyptian team ahead of competition.
