CAIRO — Egypt national football team was drawn in Group B alongside Angola, Malawi and South Sudan in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The draw ceremony was held Tuesday at the Egyptian Football Association’s Goal Project headquarters in 6th of October City.
A total of 48 African teams are taking part in the qualifiers, including hosts Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya, who have already secured automatic qualification for the finals regardless of their qualifying results.
The teams were divided into 12 groups of four, with the top two teams from each group advancing directly to the finals.
A special qualification system will apply to groups featuring one of the host nations, allowing only one additional team to qualify alongside the host country.
The tournament’s opening match is scheduled for June 19, 2027, while the final will be played on July 17, 2027.
The first and second rounds of qualifiers will take place from Sept. 21 to Oct. 6, 2026.
The third and fourth rounds are scheduled from Nov. 9 to 17, 2026, while the fifth and sixth rounds will be held from March 22 to 30, 2027.
