Egypt’s national rowing team picked up two silver medals at the Ghent International Rowing Classic in Belgium, holding their own against strong European rivals.
Rising talent Omar Hossam El-Din Moussa, 21, was responsible for both of Egypt’s silver medals.
The president of the Egyptian Rowing Federation, Sherif El-Komaty, has commended the performance made by the national team.
“These results definitely reflect how advanced Egyptian rowing has been recently, particularly in the development of young talent,” he told The Egyptian Gazette.
Moussa finished second in the Under-23 Lightweight Single Sculls in 7:44.94, just three seconds behind the Belgian winner, with the Netherlands taking third and Great Britain fourth.
Moussa also claimed silver in the Men’s Open Lightweight Single Sculls.
He is currently preparing for the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Italy this August.
Elsewhere, teammate Ali Alaa finished fifth in the Men’s Open Single Sculls from a field of 15 boats.
El-Komaty added that the medals and top-five finish mark an important step in Egypt’s build-up to upcoming international competitions.
