Egypt began its 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games with a 0-0 draw against Angola on Friday.
The Pharaohs controlled most of the game in Cairo but could not find a winning goal.
Mostafa Ziko thought he scored for Egypt in the 22nd minute, but the goal was canceled for offside. Earlier in the first half, Mahmoud Saber missed a close chance by shooting wide.
Angola also had chances to score. Striker Mabululu shot over the bar early in the match, and Egypt goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir made a great save just before half-time.
Egypt kept attacking in the second half, but Angola defended well to secure a point.
The draw means Egypt has still never lost a match against Angola.
Egypt will play their next qualifying match away against South Sudan next Tuesday.
