The first delegation of the Egyptian youth weightlifting team departed today for Colombia to participate in the upcoming U-17 World Championship, which is scheduled to take place from July 5 to 11.
The initial group traveling includes head coach Alaa El-Din Hassan and coach Hussein Metwally Hamouda, alongside athletes Basma Ramadan competing in the 53 kg category, Yasmin Motawaa in the 58 kg category, and Ali Abdel-Rady in the 79 kg category.
The second part of the delegation is scheduled to arrive in Colombia on July 5 following the final issuance of their visas.
This group will be led by Mohamed Farouk, a board member of the Egyptian Weightlifting Federation and head of the mission. It includes athletes Hagar Rushdi competing in the 69 kg category and Sadek Mahmoud Sadek in the 65 kg category.
The Egyptian national team aims to deliver strong performances and secure podium finishes during the tournament.
This participation is part of Egypt’s ongoing efforts to maintain and build upon its recent regional, continental, and international successes in the sport of weightlifting.
