WASHINGTON — Egypt national team director Ibrahim Hassan said the Pharaohs will travel directly from Vancouver to Seattle on June 22 following their World Cup clash against New Zealand, opting to minimize travel ahead of their final Group G match against Iran.
Hassan said the team had initially planned to return from Canada to Spokane before flying to Seattle on June 24.
However, the technical staff decided to head straight to Seattle to spare players additional travel and allow for better preparation for the decisive group-stage encounter.
Egypt will take on New Zealand early Monday at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver in the second round of Group G matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Pharaohs opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Belgium, while New Zealand and Iran shared the points in a 2-2 draw in their Group G opener.
