The Egyptian national handball team has learned its path for the upcoming 2027 World Men’s Handball Championship following the official draw ceremony held in Munich, Germany. Entering the draw as one of the tournament’s top-seeded teams—a status earned through years of consistent excellence on the global stage—the Pharaohs have been placed in Group B.
The group matches will be hosted in the city of Stuttgart, Germany, during the tournament which is scheduled to run from January 13 to 31, 2027.
Egypt is set to face a diverse lineup of international competitors in the opening stage, sharing the group with Italy, Cape Verde, and Saudi Arabia.
In response to the draw, the Egyptian team’s technical staff has immediately pivoted to intensive tournament preparations. Spanish head coach Pascual is currently stationed in Cairo to hold a series of critical strategy meetings with the Egyptian Handball Federation.
Pascual and his staff are finalized a comprehensive preparation blueprint aimed at maximizing the team’s technical and physical readiness.
While the technical team focuses on court strategy, the leadership of the Egyptian Handball Federation is calling for enhanced institutional backing to match the team’s lofty goals.
Captain Khaled Fathi, President of the Federation, noted that at this level of competition, no draw can be considered easy or difficult for a team with championship aspirations. He emphasized that maintaining Egypt’s position among the handball elite requires significant and proportional state support in the coming months.
Fathi explicitly called upon the Ministry of Youth and Sports to provide logistical and financial backing that aligns with the Pharaohs’ high ambitions to secure a historic achievement on German soil.
