TARANTO, Italy — Egypt continued its strong run at the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto, winning more medals and moving up to fifth in the medal table so far.
The Pharaohs have won 13 medals so far, including four gold, four silver and five bronze. This puts Egypt ahead of major sporting nations such as Spain, France, Croatia and Serbia.
Egypt also remains top of the Arab medal table, five medals ahead of Tunisia.
The result is even more impressive considering Egypt has sent a delegation of 196 athletes. Italy has 498 athletes, Türkiye 334, France 330, Greece 281, Algeria 268 and Spain 249.
So far, Egypt’s medals have come from three sports: swimming, fencing and wrestling.
Swimming

With 13 medals already, Egypt is firmly among the leading nations in Taranto and continues to lead the Arab standings.
