ACCRA — Egypt’s Table Tennis team won a total of 20 medals at the African U-19 and U-15 Boys’ and Girls’ Championships, currently being held in Accra, Ghana, from July 20 to 27.
In the U-19 mixed doubles, Abdel Malek El Sayed and Farida Thabet claimed the gold medal after defeating an Algerian pair 3-1 in the final.
The Egyptian duo reached the final by defeating Habiba Bassoumy and Yassin Gaber 3-2 in the semi-finals, giving Egypt one gold and one bronze medal in the event.
In the U-15 mixed doubles, Hussein Eyad and Malak Zaki secured the bronze medal after losing 2-3 to a Ghanaian pair in the semi-finals.
